I’m removing the rule that the pics I post have to be my own, or relate to my daily routine. I’m going to include other images that I find that resonate or I want to share.
I am inspired constantly by artists who are deeply visionary, who embody utopian beliefs, and take constant risks to express themselves. Yesterday at Gen’s, she played me a PsychicTV track that had got lost in studio recordings. It was classic Gen rant, a channeling of energy greater than human, the refrain esp. amazing: “All that matters is the end of matter. Be ex-dream until you’re powerless.” I also learned about Timothy Wyllie, Process Church guru, someone I’d known nada about! Almost as good as discovering an amazing author I’ve never read. It happens when I get books from the thrift store near me, literary types no doubt getting rid of their MFA books. Like Niall Griffiths, a young Welsh novelist whose Sheepshagger – a gothic lyrical tale about a mass murderer – really drew me in (John Banville blurbed it – as Faulkneresque – so I knew it couldn’t be that bad). The anticipation of reading more is just thoroughly seductive. And I’m finishing Adonis Garcia: A Picaresque Novel, 1979, by Luis Zapata I got at same store, which is opposite in tone – all about the mundane realities of a hustler in Mexico City (makes me wonder if the same person got rid of both books). I recommend both. But maybe not read back-to-back:)
Ok, the first image up tonite I found searching for contemporary signs of TOPY tribe life and found this on a tattoo site, with the following description: “The Temple Ov Psychic Youth Email me Directly for Topi Approved Tattooing.”
The second is an album cover (designed by Steve R. Gilmore) for Skinny Puppy’s concept album, The Process, 1996, after the Process Church, the band, it turns out, being introduced to the cult by Genesis (or so wiki says)! I will verify…extra bonus – and taking the place of another image – is this link to the full album, their last (a little too metal-y for me). I’m planning on buying this album by Psychic TV very soon, heard it as soundtrack for this amazing film created in response to it, so maybe that makes it a filmtrack for the album? Anyway, it mesmerized me!
(On another very sad note, update on that missing boy I mentioned: 11 days and still nothing. I just can’t bear it, all they know is he can’t speak and is obsessed w/trains… I want to start combing the tunnels near me since he was lost not far from me, but its not safe. I wish him peace in whatever form and whatever way, dedicating this post to him again. I took Sunday off if you noticed, my day of rest.)
